Where the estimate comes from
Your first three review areas
Important: This is an educational screening estimate, not tax advice or a tax return calculation. Your marginal rate is estimated from 2026 federal brackets and the standard deduction for your filing status, applied to your net profit as a proxy for taxable income. The estimate assumes the amounts you enter are fully eligible and deductible. For sole proprietors and partnerships, self-employment tax savings are estimated at 15.3% of 92.35% of deductions up to the 2026 Social Security wage base ($184,500), and 2.9% above it; retirement contributions are treated as reducing income tax only, since they generally do not reduce self-employment tax. Retirement amounts are shown as potential tax deferral, not permanent savings. The estimate excludes state and local taxes, credits, QBI, depreciation timing, payroll-tax limits, reasonable compensation, retirement-plan limits, phaseouts, additional Medicare tax, and entity-change costs. Eligibility and actual results depend on your records and circumstances; review them with a qualified tax professional.
